Baby Pictures

I was going through some of our pictures and came across baby pictures of me and Blake, so I decided to compare them to Jaylee's pictures now. I dunno about you, but I think that Jaylee and Blake's baby picture look almost identical! They have the same pose and everything!

It's great to be a kid!

Jaylee and I were able to go to Disney on Ice with our good friends Rach, Ava, and little Aurie and we had a blast. I have to say that when I heard it was coming to Spokane I wanted to go more for me than for Jaylee. I went last year with my mom and Lacey and we loved it. There is something about Disney that brings out the inner kid in me and I love it.
When we got there it had just started and it was really loud and poor Jaylee started shaking all over. She started crying until I put her binky in and sat down. After that she seemed intrigued with all the lights and characters moving. She fell asleep in my arms during the Princess part when they played all the theme songs until after intermission when Mickey and friends popped out and startled her, but overall she seemed to enjoy the show.

Bowling

We were able to go bowling with our friends last weekend and we had a blast! We decided that bowling can be a frustrating game cuz it's hard to be consistently good without a lot of practice and we were all a bit rusty but we still had a great time.

(Thanks MeiLani for the pictures!)

Jaylee Laughing

Our cute little friend Ava was jumping up and down and Jaylee thought it was hilarious!

Fall Colors

Jaylee and I went on a walk yesterday with our friends MeiLani and Houston, and Rachel, Ava and Aurie. It was such a beautiful day and the fall colors were amazing. We walked from the Gonzaga campus to Riverfront Park and took a lot of pictures on the way. It was so fun, thanks girls (and Houston)!

Halloween Costumes

So this year our bishop suggested that we dress up as our favorite Book of Mormon characters, so I thought about it and came up with this...

Any guesses?????
Maybe more pictures will help...

If you guessed Santa Claus during his fall break you are wrong!

Blake is Lehi, I am the Tree of Life, and Jaylee is the fruit of the tree. I was pretty proud of the costumes because I made them and I think they turned out pretty dang good!

Our friends had pretty amazing costumes too

Our ward had a trunk or treat that we went to and we brought our cool pumpkins to show off and handed out candy. We thought we had plenty of candy but we ended up running out near the end because there were so many kids.

We brought candy there and came home empty handed, that's when we realized that Halloween isn't so great for parents. We can't wait till we can take Jaylee trick or treating so that we can eat her candy!

Pumpkin Carving

I absolutely love carving pumpkins, it has to be one of my favorite things of Halloween. Since this is our last year here in Spokane we went all out in school pride. Go Zags!

Greenbluff pumpkin patch

On Wednesday Jaylee and I went with a bunch of our girl friends to a pumpkin patch in Greenbluff. It was pretty cold but we had a lot of fun! We got to see a pumpkin fired from a cannon which was pretty awesome and enjoyed a huge cinnamon roll with amazing hot chocolate.

Don't you just love the cute pink bear outfit!

No No No

The other day I had Jaylee in her swing and I was talking to her and just happened to say no no no and shake my head and to my surprise she did it right back! I hurried and grabbed the camera and got it on film. (It's dang cute right now but it won't be later!)

Spit BuBbLeS

This is Jaylee's new favorite thing to do!

Jaylee Update

So I can't believe our little girl is already 4 1/2 months old. Time has flown by and she is getting so big. She has had a lot of firsts in these last few weeks, like first time rolling over, first time laughing out loud, first time eating rice cereal, and she can now grab onto things (especially my hair!). She has now found her voice and loves to use it. Here is some cute pics of her

I also posted a couple of videos of her

Much needed Update

Sorry for not updating my blog. I spent almost all of August in Utah with my family. My brother Curtis is doing a lot better and is now in the physical therapy rehab center at the U of U. He spent about 4 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit where he under went at least 5 surgeries, it might have been more but I can't remember. When he first arrived at the hospital he had extensive internal bleeding and they had to remove his spleen because it had ruptured. He had a "brain drain" put in to control the pressure in his head and that has now been replaced with a brain shunt, he also had a tracheotomy done because he punctured his lung and broke 5 ribs and that has now been taken out. They figured that he must have had a stroke due to the trauma so his left side is weak but continually getting better and stronger everyday. He has been able to regain his ability to read, write and talk. Yesterday he was able to take a couple of steps using parallel bars and today he gets to eat his first real meal in weeks. We continually pray that these little miracles will continue each and every day. Thanks for all your love, prayers and support during this rough time for Curt and our family.

Sweet Tender Mercies

I first want to say how much I love my little girl! She is such a blessing in my life. This week has been hard to say the least, I got a call Monday morning from my mom saying that my brother Curtis had been in a serious car accident. He was driving home Sunday night and a truck broad-sided his car. His two kids were in the car with him and miraculously were ok (Abby does have a broken arm, and Max has some bumps and bruises), but my brother on the other hand is in critical condition. I struggled when I heard the news, knowing that I was away and couldn't help. It was hard, especially when Blake had to go to work. But there was my sweet little Jaylee, she was my sweet tender mercy during this hard time. She would look at me concerned and then give me a huge smile, it was like she was telling me things would be okay. And for the most part she was right. Curtis still has a long way to go before he is out of the woods, but they were able to stop the internal bleeding and his brain hemorrhage seems to be decreasing. The doctors say they are cautiously optimistic about his recovery. I want to thank all of those who have been such a good support to my family and Curt at this time. Please keep Curt and our family in your prayers.

Diamond Lake

This past weekend we were able to go to a cabin on Diamond Lake with some of our friends that are in law school with Blake. It felt so nice up there that even I got in the water! Jaylee even took a ride in the paddle boat, but I was too worried to go past the shallow part of the lake with no life jacket for her so we stayed close to the dock. I didn't dare putting her in the water because the week before we went to Coeur d'alene lake and I put her feet in and she screamed at me! Ha ha, she is like me when it comes to cold water. We had so much fun swimming, kayaking, and paddle boating. It was nice to have a weekend away.

Jaylee's Blessing

While we were in Utah we decided to bless Jaylee. It was so nice to have our close friends and family come to share with us this special occasion. I didn't even make it past the opening song and prayer before I was an emotional wreck! Ha ha! I am so grateful for Blake and his beautiful blessing that he gave. And I am grateful to all of those who came, we love you all so much.

Our Trip to Utah

We got to visit friends and family over the 4th and we had so much fun! It was nice because most of them hadn't seen Jaylee yet so it was nice to show her off. We squeezed in a lot while we were there, everything from boating to staying at the cabin, swimming, friend and family bbqs, the parade, some intense bad-mitten and more.

Here are some pics of us at the Murray parade

First Father's Day

So Blake got to celebrate his first true Father's Day! Jaylee and I decided to get him a Roger Federer hat and making him a nice dinner (which only happens on very special occasions! ha ha). He is already a great dad and I love watching him with Jaylee, especially when they fall asleep together. Happy Fathers Day!

Our 3rd Anniversary

We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary on June 12th. I can't believe that it's already been that long. Blake surprised me with flowers and McDonalds breakfast! He knows me too well. It was way cute. I am so grateful for him and all that he does for me each and every day. Thanks love for 3 amazing years!

Jaylee's first church experience

We took Jaylee to church for the first time on Sunday and she did so well. We are still teaching primary and the kids were so excited to see her and they even sang to her during sharing time.

She looked so cute in her little dress and bow!

It's so much fun dressing Jaylee up all cute with bows and cute outfits! So of coarse I had to take pictures and even got ones of her smiling, lucky me!

Grandma Voorhees

We have been way spoiled by having people come and help us out after Jaylee was born. Blake's mom was able to come out over memorial day and we were way excited to have her here! The weather wasn't super great here in Spokane but we still had a lot of fun just resting and holding Jaylee. Thanks so much mom for your help!

Jaylee's Explosion

Jaylee is definitely a good pooper. She starts grunting and pushing and then explodes. It's like a torpedo! Ha ha. It shoots out and believe me I know cuz she has already pooped on me twice. I was lucky enough to catch one of these explosions on film.

Our first two weeks

My dad has a saying that he loves to use all the time, and that is "Once you have children life as you know it ceases to exist" and I now believe it. The life that Blake and I once had is gone and a new one has begun. I already love this new life, even with the late night feedings and her pooping all over me. All that I have ever wanted to do was to be a mom and now I finally get to be one! It is tough sometimes, especially when she is crying because her tummy is upset and it makes me cry cuz I can't do anything for her except hold her close and wait. But it is so fulfilling every time she grins or falls asleep in my arms or the way she looks at me when I am talking to her. Blake loves to comment everyday that she is such a good baby and she really is! We feel way lucky to have her.

Here are some pictures of our first two weeks with Jaylee
