Meet Jaylee!

The long wait is finally over! Jaylee was born on May 6th at 3:03pm. She weighed 6 lbs and 14 oz and was 19 inches long. It was a crazy experience starting out with a regular doctor's checkup and ended up a natural child birth. When I went into the doctors I didn't feel like I was having regular strong contractions but apparently my body was because when the doctor checked I was dilated to an 8! So he told me to go straight to the hospital because there was a bed with my name on it. Ha ha so to the hospital we went. When we went to check in the front desk lady was like "can I help you" and I said "ya we were just sent over by Dr. Maughan", and she was like "I expected you to be in a wheelchair, who walks around dilated at an 8?" So we laughed and got settled into our room. Now don't get me wrong I was having cramps but I wasn't bent over in pain like I thought I should be. When I was hooked up to the monitor I kept asking Blake if I was having a contraction (sick I know!) So when the doctor came I was at a 9 and he broke my water which actually seemed to slow down my contractions so they started me on pitocin and man did that get things going! About 5 minutes after pitocin entered my body the contractions hit hard. They had discussed the possibility of getting an epidural but said it could slow me down and I would have to deal with the after effects, so we decided that we would wait to see how it went. But it turned out that I was only in pain for about an hour and a half which included 45 minutes of pushing and out she popped! We were way surprised to see lots of hair! They did end up having to cut me twice but I still consider myself lucky! Here are some of our pictures of our cute bundle of joy!

More Cute Baby Things!

My friend Trisha was nice enough to throw me a shower with our friends and people from our ward here in Spokane. It was so much fun! Trisha had decorated her home all cute and even made a diaper cake and a edible fruit arrangement which was very impressive. I was able to get more cute baby things and now feel pretty set for our little girl to come!

Spokane Sports

We love the nice weather that we are having here in Spokane. After we watched the Masters on TV, Blake was itching to go golfing so we went out with our friends Michael and MeiLani to the driving range. I decided that it would be better if I sat out because I didn't want to be more uncomfortable than I already am.







We also had our very first Shock experience thanks to our awesome friends that hooked us up with tickets. It was fun to see all the red neck Spokanians go all crazy for their indoor football team. I even joined in with the crowd which made it more exciting until I got a headache and my back started hurting. After that I was done so we left a little early but they still won. Go Shock!

Easter and Baby Showers

I was lucky enough to be able to go home for two weeks over Easter to visit our families and it was so nice. Blake even got to come for the Easter weekend and that made it even more fun. We got to relax and take a break from work and school and it was very refreshing. Both of our families have fun traditions that we missed out on last year so it was nice to celebrate with them. We got to go roll eggs down the Murray park hill and chase after seagulls and also experience a difficult Easter egg hunt (Blake's dad is a master at hiding them he had to eventually help us in the end). It was so much fun!



While we were there our families threw us a couple of baby showers and it was fun to be able to see everyone. We were able to get a lot of cute stuff that we needed and are now almost set for our little baby to come. Thanks to all those who helped out and came to celebrate with us! We are so grateful and love you all.

Belly Picture

So I know a lot of you have been waiting on a picture of my pregnant belly so here it is! This is me at 31 weeks pregnant. I am sorry we have been saying that we needed to take a picture but most days after I come home from work or church I jump into something comfy real fast. So this time we took a picture before church.

The Nursery / Blake's office

I am so excited because we finally are putting together the nursery! We got the bedding a couple of weeks ago and it's way cute. I spent forever looking online for the right crib set and fell in love with this one. We even got a really good deal which makes it even better. My co-worker gave us her crib which was super nice because it is cute and even has drawers. Once we set it up I realized how small that second bedroom really is because we still kept Blake's desk and office stuff in there. So it's a half and half room, but it will work for as long as we are living here.

PROJECTS!

Well we went to our first childbirth class and were talking about different things that happen during the third trimester of pregnancy and of coarse nesting was mentioned and all the guys started laughing. Blake just gave me the you are definitely going through that kind of look. And I really have! But in all fairness I have just been trying to keep busy while Blake is studying. So I started thinking about different projects I could do to decorate the nursery. So here is the list...

Project 1



Last Christmas my aunt gave a blanket like this to my sister and ever since then I have wanted to make one. So after months of putting it together and doing little steps at a time, I was finally able to finish it! Ya! It's not perfect or even close to it, but I was proud at how it turned out.

Project 2


I took our red ikea chair that we got for our wedding and changed it into a girly pink chair that I could put in the babies room. I actually just took a pink sheet and duct taped it to the back of the chair. Blake thought I was crazy (ok let's face it, I am!) but it turned out to look pretty good. I was excited.


Project 3

My ward back in October had a super Saturday and this was one of the projects you could do. At the time I was not sure what I was going to have so I just chose some material and ribbon that I liked and decided to wait to put it together until we found out. So obviously we are having a girl and so I made it pink and green. I loved making this and found out that you can to a lot with a hot glue gun!

Project 4

So while I went on my cleaning frenzy I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this white stand that we had in our closet holding our extra shoes. I was going to just give it to the goodwill but then I found these cute baskets and had the brilliant idea of using them and the stand as a cute storage holder for baby things.


Project 5

I found this idea of a ribbon board off a website and absolutely loved it. So I bought cute ribbon and white material and glued them onto a big piece of cardboard. I also had these hooks and decided to use them on the board to hold the cute bracelets I made over Christmas and other jewelry I get for the baby.

Project 6

I even tried out my bow making skills and was able to find a couple of different websites that had some tutorials. I mean they are not great but I was happy with what I was able to do!








Project 7

I had a couple of wooden plaques and decided to make a name board. I was going to buy vinyl lettering online but then I had the idea to use these wooden letters that I found at Joann's (my new favorite place!) and thought it turned out cute.


Projects 8,9, & 10



I decided that I needed to have some other wall decorations to go above the crib so I came up with the idea of making some out of scrap booking paper. So i bought some white art canvases and found some pictures of flowers and one of a butterfly and printed them out and used them as stencils. Then I glued them onto the art canvases and wallah! Instant home made wall decorations.


























So as you can see I have definitely been busy! And the craziest part is that I still have some more projects in the making. So I will keep you updated.

Blake's B-day

Blake is now 25! He is an old married man now with a kid on the way. Wow how time flies. We were able to celebrate by going out to dinner Friday night with our friends and it was way fun. I felt bad because we ended up buying a cake instead of me making one but I didn't have time to because I worked that day, bummer! But it ended up being a really good cake so it worked out all right.

We shared our cake with our friends so the cake was bigger than this. And we only had one good candle, i felt bad that I was unprepared.







But I did make up for it with presents!

Cleaning frenzy!

So it must be the nesting period of pregnancy for me because I went crazy cleaning one weekend. We were trying to clean out the room Blake uses as an office so we can have some room for the baby things, but before I knew it I was cleaning out more than just that room! It went to our bedroom, to our bathroom, to our kitchen, to our living room area, and then to all our closets. Man it was a huge project! We ended up taking 2 car loads to Good Will, and several more to the garbage. We laugh because when it comes to keeping and collecting old things I am the type that just gets rid of it, if I have not used it and never think I will. Blake on the other had is a little pack rat and can't let go of anything old and memorable. So we have to compromise and only get rid of a few things at a time. We even still had wedding presents that had never been opened that we have lugged around for 2 and a half years! So I decided it all needed to be sorted through and given away if we were not going to use it in the next 5 years. So it was operation clean out of the whole apartment that took 2 whole days and a lot of work. When I woke up on Sunday (finally a day of rest!) I could barely move because every part of my body hurt! I think I over did it just a little but I am so very glad now because I won't have to do it later. I now can start putting all the cute baby things away and get a crib! Ya! Only 3 months to go!
